Calocephalus/Silver Bush/Cushion Bush Care Instructions
Light - These Australian natives love their warmth and sunshine. (They can, however, tolerate cool temperatures if need be.) Find them a home in a space that receives direct sunlight or that is as bright as possible.
Water - Calocephalus are naturally found in wet environments. They can take a healthy dose of water and don’t like to dry out completely. Do still take care to not have the roots sitting in soggy soil for long, and if it ends up that it’s approaching dryness, it’ll show you so with drooping tendrils. Worst case scenario, silver bush look almost exactly the same if they dry out and perish, so people will be none the wiser!
If all is going well and your silver bush is growing, feel free to trim back overzealous tendrils to maintain its shape. Doing so will also help promote the growth of some of the other branches and allow the plant to fill out more evenly.
*Just like people, each plant is a unique living thing and may have varying needs, especially in their individual locations. These are basic guidelines that may have to be augmented slightly depending on the environment you place your plant in, as well as frequency and amount of water given.
