Floristry Meets Engineering at the University of Toronto

Floristry Meets Engineering at the University of Toronto

It’s all go-go-go in May with Mother’s Day celebrations, but April was a really exciting month for Oleander too! We were absolutely honoured to be asked to provide flowers for the University of Toronto Engineering Faculty’s 150th anniversary celebrations held in downtown Toronto.

On Saturday, April 1, we headed into the city with flowers galore to the Fairmont Royal York hotel where over 1,300 members of the U of T Engineering community gathered to celebrate the Faculty’s 150th anniversary. And we were beyond excited to be a part of it!

We created flowers throughout the event space and also for the main speaker stage, where Canadian astronaut and engineering graduate Col. Chris Hadfield gave an inspiring keynote address. We were also asked to set up a fun and interactive “flower shop” where attendees could construct their own arrangements!

We had no idea how popular the pop-up “flower shop” would be, and it turned out to be a roaring success with all the flowers disappearing within an hour! It was a lot of hard work but we really enjoyed the day and the opportunity to be a part of such an inspiring event.
