Father's Day

Father's Day

Old Man, Pops, Daddy-O. Whatever you call him, it’s that time of year when we celebrate fathers, paternal bonds and the positive influence of male figures in our society. Father’s Day gives us the opportunity to express our love and gratitude to all the dads and father-figures out there, and we couldn’t be more thankful!

The idea of a special day to honor fathers and celebrate fatherhood was first introduced in the United States. Inspired by the American Mother's Day celebrations, Sonora Smart Dodd planned a day to honor fathers early in the 20th century. The first Father's Day was celebrated in Spokane, Washington on June 19th, 1910. Just like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day is celebrated on an annual basis throughout the world. In Canada, Father’s Day falls on the third Sunday in June, and this year will be celebrated on Sunday June 19.

Traditionally, people give gifts and cards to their dads on this day, and we’ve definitely got you covered here at Oleander. From the failproof pair of socks, to games, self-care products and chocolate, show your dad some love with a thoughtful gift from us. Or, if yours is a green-fingered gent, why not order him a plant or floral arrangement instead? Whatever your style, head on over to our website at Oleander.ca or drop on into the shop, and we’ll be happy to help. We’ve got you covered in the card department too, with a large selection available. And, if you’re not able to get to see the main man to celebrate his special day, well don’t worry, we deliver!

Whilst Father's Day is not a public holiday, as it falls on a Sunday, we’ll be shutting up shop to take a well-deserved break and to celebrate the superstar men in our lives.
